When you write articles as eclectic as Lot 10 Underground regularly publishes explaining yourself becomes kind of redundant. Besides, a piece should speak for itself, right? Well… even I felt this one needed a bit of a disclaimer.
Nic Cage has been in some bad movies. He also has made some acting choices that are head scratchers. It is hard to spend any time on the internet and not see him losing himself in both GIF and meme form.
But he’s one of my favorite actors, and it's not as if he doesn’t have any merit in the field. He has an academy award, and movies like Adaptation have been critically acclaimed. He also has a pretty good streak of hits at the box office, and played the leading role in enough well received 90s action movies to make Chucky Cheese himself tuck tail and admit defeat.
But, for all of his success… you have the inescapable moments that just leave you wondering...why?
I guess, more than anything the point of these series is to explore the good, the bad, and the ridiculous in an attempt to try and understand some of the choices he makes, and maybe learn a lesson or two along the way.
The Series will be divided into three sections: 1) a review of the movie as a whole, 2) a review of the overall caginess (ridiculousness) of the film, and 3) my final thoughts on the movie, and why you should or shouldn't waste your time with it.
So without further ado, I announce the first entry into the series, due to post next week, is Face-Off.
If you want to watch these movies and follow along, well that’s pretty weird, even for us.
